Perverted Art Teacher Robert Collins Jailed for Sending Sexual Messages to Young Girls

Robert Collins, 39, from Southport has been sentenced to prison for 2 years and six months for sending perverted messages to young girls over four years.

Robert Collins was the head of art at Formby High School when he sent pictures of his naked genitals to young girls and begged for illicit images of their bodies. The perverted art teacher was discovered in June 2023; he sent online messages to a girl – who he thought was 12 years old but was an undercover police officer – asking “What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?”

Robert Collins asked the ‘girl’ for pictures of her body, and sent her images of his erect penis and naked torso. This prompted the police to visit Collins’ address in Southport, where devices were confiscated and analysed. Robert Collins had been in contact with three other teenage girls and had identified himself as a teacher to each girl. 

Collins told one of the girls that he loved her and wanted to start a relationship with her. He was also found with category C images of children on his devices. 

The former teacher who has no previous convictions initially denied the offences but later pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual communications with a child, four counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of possession of indecent images of children (category C).

Robert Collins has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
